Brazilian Wax

At HotWax, our Brazilian wax removes all the hair, including the hair in between the buttocks. Yes, hair does grow there. You may request a “landing strip” or triangle to be left on top, too. Please don’t be embarrassed when you’re asked to pull your knees to your chest. The good news is, this part isn’t painful for most people.

Tight Bikini

This wax leaves a landing strip or large or thin (your preference) triangle then goes in extremely tight to the labia area, and then the hair is removed from in between the buttocks.

Bikini

At Hotwax, the hair visible outside the panty line is removed. Most often, we do a high and tight bikini so you get a little more bang for your buck!

* You many wear underwear during this service, but we can work faster if you don’t. There’s no shyness rule at HotWax 🙂

How long should the hair be?

Approximately 1/4 of an inch, the length of a grain of rice, or 3-4 weeks from the time since you last shaved.

How do I prepare for my wax?

All you need to do is just show up and leave all the work to us! You can take Ibuprofen 30 mins before your wax. Don’t trim the hair as it makes the hair too short (long hair is a good thing!).

What if I’m a little shy baring it all?

It’s totally normal to feel this way but our waxologists are licensed professionals, non-judgmental and we are here to provide you with an amazing service!

Will a glass of wine help my nerves?

Actually, despite what many think, alcohol and caffeine will increase blood circulation, making pain worse – so hold off on the booze until after your wax!

Do men wax?

Absolutely! Beyond the Manzilian (the male version of the Brazilian) many men also wax their chests, backs, noses and ears. But we have a tip for you: Don’t wax your face. While women’s faces respond well, the hair on a man’s face and head isn’t built for the waxing process.

Can I get waxed during the time of the month?

Yes, however you will be more sensitive. Please also wear a tampon. But beyond that, we can most definitely wax you during your “monthly bill.”

What type of wax do you use?

HotWax is a wax bar that utilizes a variety of waxes including honey-based soft wax and hard wax. There are benefits of both and it’s all in the technique, application and pull! Our waxologists have many years of experience and you’re in great hands when you book with any of them!

Should I shave in between waxes?

While it might be tempting…don’t! Waxing leaves you, stubble-free and waxing on a regular basis (3-6 weeks) will put your hair on a cycle, thus thinning out the hair growth. Shaving throws of this cycle and your next wax will be actually be more painful. Shaving in between waxing can also causing nasty ingrown.

Should I exfoliate?

We recommend cleansing the area daily with a mild cleanser free of dyes and perfumes.
For exfoliation, HotWax retails Get the Bump Outta Here. This roll-on product contains five ingredients (humectants, fruit acid blend of AHAs, Salicylic Acid, Camphor, Menthol) that reduces irritation and redness, unclogs pores, has anti-microbial properties and soothes and calms skin.

Will my hair grow back darker or thicker?

No! Waxing actually helps the hair to grow back at a finer texture, making it easier to remove during your next visit. And an added bonus: The more you get waxed, the less it hurts; it just keeps getting better!

How Close Together Should I Schedule My Visits?

Not all re-growth cycles are the same. Some people get waxed every three weeks, while some people can make it six! If you are unsure of how close to book your appointments, try four weeks apart to start and go from there.
TIP: We suggest pre-booking your appointments instead of guessing how long your hair should be for your next visit. This makes it easier/less stressful for you.

Can I go tanning?

You should wait at least 48 hours to go tanning after your wax. Make sure you cover with SPF in sensitive areas!
Also, you should wait 24 hours to go into hot tubs, saunas, intense workouts, etc.

When will the hair grow back?

There are three stages of hair growth and waxing pulls the hair out by the root and disrupts the growth process in effect damaging the hair follicle. So, some hair will pop out sooner than others but after your wax, you won’t see any hair for a good 2-3 weeks! Waxing staggers the regrowth and causes the hair to grow back on a tapered edge, while shaving the hair make it grow back on a blunt edge the very next day!

What are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent, lasting 4-6 weeks depending on the life cycle of your own natural lashes and other factors. Eyelash extensions have a natural looking curve

What type of Lash do you use at HotWax?

We use Mink lashes including bold mink and silk mink.

Do lash extensions look and feel natural?

The lashes have a natural looking curve, so there is no need to use an eyelash curler. Eyelash Extensions come in various lengths, colors, and thicknesses to create a beautiful and natural look. When professionally and properly applied, you cannot feel any difference after having your lashes enhanced with Professional Eyelash Extensions.

Can I resume normal activities with my lashes?

You can shower, swim, or go to the spa.

How long will they last?

They can last up to two months, depending on your own natural eyelash life cycle.

After care for your lashes:
  • Avoid using Oil-based products such as Vaseline, oil based eye creams, serums and cleansers.
  • Keep your hands off your lashes. Do not rub, pick or pull your lashes. Just as plucking your eyebrow can cause permanent damage to the root causing it not grow back – the same is true for eyelashes.
  • Use water-washable mascara instead of waterproof mascara. Although mascara is not needed, if you use it, gently apply water-based mascara only to the tips of your lash extensions. As an option, consider using Max2 Volume Up Mascara which is specifically formulated for lash extensions.
  • Avoid cotton swabs when cleansing your lash line. Always use a sponge applicator or a micro swab which can gently sweep across the base of your lashes without leaving behind trace fibers.
  • After using cleansers, when your lashes are wet from the shower, always pat them dry – avoid rubbing them with your towel.
  • Are you a side sleeper? To avoid rubbing your eyes too aggressively on your pillow while sleeping, you may want to consider purchasing a Save My Face Pillow which provides support to your neck and head while freeing the space around your eyes to prevent wrinkling and damage to your lashes.

Eyelash extensions add extra weight to your natural eyelash so any additional weight or stress from perming, curling or tinting should be avoided.

Comb your lash daily with a simple disposable mascara wand!

What is a lash lift?

It’s like a perm (but without chemicals like parabens or formaldehyde), for your natural eyelashes. It uplifts and curls them from the base of the lash, making them stand out and look longer. It’s often paired with a lash tint, to enhance the defining effect

Does the Lash Lift procedure hurt?

No the procedure is totally painless. You will have your eyes closed for the entire treatment and although it may feel a little strange being unable to open your eyes for this time, it offers you a chance to relax during the treatment.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes. Lashes are lifted onto our specially shaped lifting pads before products are applied.

Will the Lash Lift damage my natural lashes?

No. Select a carefully trained and skilled Professional to ensure proper Lash Lift procedures are followed

How long does a lash lift take?

A lash lift can take anything from 45 minutes to an hour from beginning to end. Maybe a little longer if you decide to have your eyelashes tinted which will enhance the effect of your lash lift.

How long will a Lash Lift last?

A Lash Lift can last 6-8 weeks but can vary from person to person. There is no need for any maintenance appointments in between but you will need to have the process repeated every 6-8 weeks to lift the new hair growth. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat. If you find that your lift does not last the full 2 months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of having the initial treatment, but not before.

Can you use mascara over a Lash Lift?

Yes, but never waterproof mascara. And although you can use false lashes too, it’s not advisable. Most clients comment that they can almost feel the lashes hitting the skin beneath their brows, so adding extensions could aggravate the skin.
